I. CALL TO ORDER

II. ROLL CALL:

Senator Dupey, Senator Eden, Senator Wazir, Senator Arellano, Senator Matthys, Speaker Latino, Senator Horner (late), Senator Bridge, Senator Percell, Senator Derr, Senator Barrows, Senator Pacheco, Senator Cousar.

III. AGENDA:

Senator Eden moved to amend the agenda by adding "Election Commissioner, Melissa Allen" under Section VII. GUEST SPEAKERS. No objections. Vice President Patent moved to add "Ben Wright, PSAS Representative" under Section V. EXECUTIVE REPORTS. No objections . Senator Pacheco moved to add "Campus Life" under Section VIII. COMMITTEE REPORTS. No objections. Senator Derr moved to add "Alumni Board" under VIII. COMMITTEE REPORTS. No objections. Senator Dupey moved to add "Section IX. NEW BUSINESS, a . Constitutional Amendments #285, #290, & #295" No objections. Senator Bridge moved to table Constitutional Amendment # 280 under Section X. OLD BUSINESS, until next week. No objections.

IV. MINUTES:
Senator Eden moved to accept the minutes. Motion passed.

V. EXECUTIVE BRANCH:

a. President Kelly reported on the COSGA Conference, giving instructions on final arrangements. President Kelly asked if the staff could hold off on printing amendments to the Constitution and By Laws until all the newly written amendments were passed, so that ASG could save on costs of printing. Speaker Latino asked if there were any objections, there were none. President Kelly reported that the University of Colorado had invited everyone to attend a conference being held on Mar 1st at the Boulder Campus, on the subject of responsible drinking. Anyone wishing to go please contact him for maps and info.

b. Vice President Patent - introduced Ben Wright as the Pueblo School for the Arts and Sciences Representative to ASG.

c. Ben Wright of PSAS reported that he would be attending meetings every other week, and has received input from students who are interested in serving on the USC Today Committee.

Senator Pacheco mentioned the Campus Life Committee is looking for a PSAS representative.


VI. LEGISLATIVE BRANCH:
a. Speaker Latino reported that Constitutional Amendments need to be done by next week so work could begin on By Laws Amendments. The second annual Parti Gras Celebration sponsored by SAB includes the Club Olympics, and Speaker Latino requested members of the Senate to form a committee to meet Fridays at 1:00 to work on this project.

b. Speaker Pro Tem Arellano reported that he would be checking the suggestion boxes and lockers next week in order to give students time to submit their suggestions for naming the ASG Newsletter.

VII. GUEST SPEAKERS

a. Interim President of USC, Dr. Leslie Wong, addressed the senate and discussed the General Education Board's issues of re-viewing the general education requirements. He also discussed the Faculty Senate's recommendations in regards to the general education requirements.
Enrollment for International students is the highest it's ever been with an FTE of 270.
He reported the discussion between KTSC and KRMA regarding a possible merger and
announced the open forums that will be held as part of the Presidential Search and Screen process beginning Monday, Feb. 24 and continuing through March.
Dr. Wong outlined the Sexual Harassment Policy which will include Peer to Peer Harassment, Adult to Minor Harassment, and focus on Safety Issues.

b. Associate Vice President of Educational Alliances, Dr. Euphemia Williams, discussed the process of reviewing the District 60 Alliance with USC and requested student's opinions of the effectiveness, improvements, etc.

c. Election Commissioner, Melissa Allen, introduced the Election calendar of events and deadlines.

VIII. COMMITTEE REPORTS

a. COFC - Speaker Pro Tem Arellano introduced the Ping Pong Club's representative to achieve chartered status. Their representative gave a presentation on their request for charter. The request was voted on and approved.

Speaker Pro Tem Arellano introduced the representative from Alpha Sigma Alpha to request chartered status. Their representative gave a presentation on the request and was approved for charter.

b. Awards & Banquets - Senator Dupey suggested holding the Awards ceremony off-campus. Senator Pacheco stated that he felt it would cost more and make it difficult to attend.

c. Faculty Senate - Senator Wazir reported on the Faculty Senate's recommendations in regards to the general education requirements.

d. CSA - Senator Eden reported.

e. Alumni Board - Senator Derr reported that Celebrity Waiters was a success. There were 97 applicants for the Alumni Scholarship.
If KTSC does merge, they will no longer be able to televise the Horizons Scholarship because of FCC rules that state Public Service Broadcasters can only raise funds for their own use.
The Alumni Association donated funds for the Childcare playground. A plaque will be presented in their honor.

f. Campus Life - Senator Pacheco reported that the Campus Life Committee reviewed Resolution 970 and recommended that the time limit for campus activities be extended to 1:00 AM, instead of 2:00 AM as per Resolution 970.

IX. NEW BUSINESS

a. Constitutional Amendments #285, #290, and #295 were read by Senator Dupey and Senator Wazir.

Speaker Latino reminded everyone that these amendments will be discussed and voted on at next week's meeting.

X. OLD BUSINESS

a. Constitutional Amendments #270, #275, and #280.
Speaker Latino asked for discussion on Amendment #270. There was no discussion. The Roll Call Vote was as follows:

(Senator Pacheco left the meeting prior to vote)

Constitutional Amendment # 270 passed.

Speaker Latino asked for discussion on Amendment #275. There was no discussion. The Roll Call Vote was as follows:

XI. AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION

Nissa from CoPirg asked the senators to write letters to Congress expressing the importance of grant funding, and requesting increased funding levels for programs like the Pell Grant and State Student Incentive Grant.

XII. ANNOUNCEMENTS

Dr. Hill reminded students of the open forums for the Presidential Search & Screen process beginning Feb. 24.

XIII. ADJOURNMENT

Speaker Latino asked if there were any objections to adjourning. There were none. Meeting adjourned.
